We are a West Michigan BLUES band ready to move your body and speak to your SOUL!
Band members
Tonya Martini
Vocals
Tonya Martini has been living the musician’s life since
birth! As the daughter of a classical pianist and opera
singer father, who was also a music teacher and
director of high school musicals, her childhood was
spent immersed in many different genres of music. She
pursued opportunities to perform in and also direct
talent shows.
Tonya took a few decades off to raise her family and commit to a full-time teaching career. Later in life, she was strongly encouraged to attend karaoke events with her daughters. She was hooked after that and began actively seeking out “jam sessions” with local musicians. Soon after that, she decided to form her own band that became known as Tonya Martini & The Shotz. They have played across West Michigan for the past few years.
Tonya is also currently creating beautiful blues with the skilled musicians that are Tonya Martini & the Bluetones.
Joe Garcia
Drums & Vocals
Joe discovered his passion for music at a young age,
starting as a singer and later transitioning to
drumming as well.
Through dedication and hard work, he found success playing with various bands, including the blues rock
band “Rock Bottom Brotherhood.” After moving to
Kalamazoo and immersing himself in the blues music
scene, Joe honed his skills and eventually joined the popular blues band Tonya Martini and the Bluetones.
With a unique talent for both drumming and singing, Joe continues to entertain audiences with his musical abilities and passion for the blues genre.
Randy Wilda
Guitar
Randy began playing guitar in grade school while
growing up in Wisconsin. In high school he saw
BB King with his original backup band, Sonny
Freeman and the Unusuals. That ‘life event’
ignited Randy’s lifelong passion for the blues.
Moving to Phoenix he worked in the 70’s and 80’s
with the Tommy Dukes Blues Band, Big Pete
Pearson and the All-Star Blues Band, The Detroit Blues Band, and harmonica virtuoso Bob Corritore.
His influences beyond the ‘three Kings’ include Chris Cain, Larry Carlton, Matt Schofield, Ronnie Earl, and Monster Mike Welch. ‘My reward as a musician is playing for a live audience and seeing them smile, shimmy and move their feet!’ Randy is presently working with the six-piece band Tonya Martini and the Bluetones.
Tom Hopsicker
Guitar
Tom took guitar lessons in grade school and then played acoustically on and off over the years. Around 2010 he heard Stevie Ray Vaughan play and immediately purchased an elecric guitar and amp for $200. Tom honed his skills at local blues jams and also Blues Guitar Unleashed events in California, Maine, North Carolina, Tenessee, New York, and more recently in Grand Rapids at a BGU event that he hosted. Tom has been a member of Nothing But the Blues Band, Kat and the Bluetones, and is currently with Tonya Martini and the Bluetones.
Bob Hunt
Saxophone & Wind Controllers
Bob has played sax and wind controller in many bands through the years. One of the notable bands was Endless Summer. The band opened for Tommy James and the Shondells, and the Kingsmen.
More recently he worked with Martila Sanders and GQ. They played at the Motor City Casino for 3 years and numerous engagements at the Kalamazoo Blues Festivals, and the Lansing Blues festival.
Currently Bob is working with guitar player and vocalist Bob Weis. They have performed at the Gilmore Car Museum, The Potowatami Inn in Indiana, The Hilton Hotel in downtown Kalamazoo, and many other venues in West Michigan. The newest venture has been with Tonya Martini and the Bluetones.
